"History has taught us: never underestimate the amount of money, time, and effort someone will expend to thwart a security system. It's always better to assume the worst. Assume your adversaries are better than they are. Assume science and technology will soon be able to do things they cannot yet. Give yourself a margin for error. Give yourself more security than you need today. When the unexpected happens, you'll be glad you did."Read more...

Public key crypto key exchanges (RSA, D&H, ECC) would be ‘flat-lined’ under a quantum computer attack … "Open Problem”

“Briefly and simply, assurance work makes a user or a creditor more confident that the system works as intended without flaws, without surprises, even in the presence of malice.” … “The major shortfall is absence of assurance or safety mechanisms in software. If my car crashed as often as my computer does, I’d be dead by now.”

Simplify your key management activities while achieve a higher level of trust against internal information leaks with Synaptic Labs' Identifier Based Encryption (SIBE) technologies. Encrypt e-mails and messages to other users by just using their email address! Removes the need to previously negotiate exchange of public key material. Achieves a higher level of security and scalability than possible with existing Identity based encryption services. Designed for use with Synaptic Labs' Enterprise and Universal many-to-many key exchange protocols. Synaptic Identifier Based Encryption is suitable for all devices that can run the Enterprise and Universal key exchanges. In Enterprise Key Exchange environments Synaptic Labs' identifier based encryption supports highly secure end-to-end communications between users using email addresses that were validated by trusted parties within each organisation. These validated email addresses are then tightly bound to the hardware security module. This provides the highest level of assurance between the email address and the smart card. Unlike traditional identity based encryption systems that use at risk public key technologies, it is not possible for a single trusted technical administrator to compromise the security of all the messages delivered within system. In Universal Key Exchange environments Synaptic Labs' identifier based encryption allows secure communications between billions of users based on e-mail address alone. To increase rapid adoption at the lowest cost the Universal SIBE is not as secure as the Enterprise SIBE in the minimal default configuration. Optional recommended steps can be taken by any party enrolled in the system to increase the security association between their smart card and the email addresses under their control. The system automatically increases the security of all communications after the first pair of messages are exchanged between parties. The minimal default system is considered ideal for most day-to-day personal and business communications in that it provides a level of security far greater than traditional email systems while maintaining the same level of ease-of-use. The optional security steps available to the users of the system allow them to increase security against targeted malice against them and their associates. It is not possible for any one service provider to compromise the security of messages they are securing. Further InformationAdditional information is available via the menu bar on the right of the screen under the Identifier Based Encryption menu item. The Identifier Based Encryption functionality has been described in a paper published on ePrint. That paper is an extended version of a short 4 page peer reviewed technical abstract presented at the U.S. Oak Ridge National Laboratory - Cyber Security and Information Intelligence Research Workshop. Synaptic Laboratories and the Gozo Business Chamber (EU) have co-founded the ICT Gozo Malta cluster of excellence. This cluster of excellence will work in close collaboration with key Government and private stakeholders and leading International companies to develop many of Synaptic Labs' innovative technologies. The Identifier Based Encryption functionality will be implemented as part of the ICT Gozo Malta Global-scale Cyber Security project and Exoskeleton extensions. The relationships between projects is visually illustrated here. |
